Ovaries and pelvic organs
Sunday, March 22nd, 2009 at 12:14 pmI’ve been having weird dull pains on the right side of my lower abdomen for almost 3 weeks now. At first, I thought, it was just normal stomach cramps, because I’m perfectly fine, my appetite is good, no fever either, my stool is good, and I was expecting my period, but after my period, it was still there. So I’ve decided to see a gastroenterologist at Medical City, Ortigas with my boyfriend. After examining my stomach, the doctor finds nothing wrong with it but to make sure, he said that I should have an ultrasound for my pelvic organs. He also referred me to a gynecologist on the same floor, for it could be an ovarian cyst. To speed things up, I had all my tests, and the results were all negative, and my organs are normal. What a relief! But still, I wasnt’t sure yet, I have to show them first to the doctor.
And yesterday, I went with my boyfriend to Medical City again. It was almost 10am when we got there. We headed first to the ambulatory services center to get the result of my urinalysis. After that, we went to the Medicard office, and after getting the approved slip, we headed to the 12th floor to see again the gynecologist.
It turns out that I have a polycystic left ovary. But before you panic, let me explain what it means: My left ovary has more than 12 follicles all over it, they are like small dots covering my ovary, these follicles didn’t mature yet to become an egg. She told me that it’s not normal, but it’s not a serious condition either. And my right ovary is normal, so I have nothing to worry. If a woman has a polycystic ovary and she’s wanting to get pregnant but she’s having a hard time, that’s the only time to treat it. BUT still, it has nothing to do with my stomach pain!
I’m happy my ovaries are doing good down there, lol. With all the tests I’ve undergone, and I have not mentioned the “transrectal ultrasound” yet and has no plans of sharing that experience, this is really frustrating!
And it all drains to.. Muscle spasm. Yes. The doctor said, it can be a muscle spasm, since I have no symptom of anything, just the pain. Even the gastroenterologist told me that it can be a muscle spasm. He told me not to wear tight pants and just wear skirts for the mean time, or anything that will not give pressure to my lower abdomen.
What’s so cool with this experience is I’ve got a copy of my own ovaries in print! My sister wants me to frame them. LOL

i myself had to undergo that transrectal thingy and i know you would agree, it was horribly gross and painful. haha. but it turned out that i had a swollen apendics, no major anything for my ovaries or other organs. so there. the doctors had to remove my appendics. a few months later, i went back to OB coz i still have weird pains on my abdomen. and the OB found out that my left ovary became polycystic already and advised me to take pills. did your OB advise you to take the same?
anyway, just want to send some comment. im into reading friends’ blogs nowadays. hihi. take care
hello atche!
she didn’t advise me to take pills :-S
actually may masakit pa rin, parang gusto ko ulit magpa-doctor pag tumagal pa ng one month, pero sa ibang hospital naman :x
weird, bakit kaya laging left ang polycystic, lol. :-S
oo nga eh. pati ofismate ko, left ovary ung tinanggal.. katakot.. wawa naman sha. buti ung satin di pa complicated. *knock on wood*
anyway, ganyang ganyan din ako before and lo and behold, sa medical city din ako nagpacheck up. sa sobrang weird nung pain, i decided to have myself confined for observation. kasi matagal ko na din nararamdaman. un, inobserve nila, tapos di nawala ang pain after 2 days. so based on their findings, appendicitis nga. buti tinanggal na nila kasi super swollen na pala. hopefully di ganun case mo.. :-S
oo try to see another doctor.
sana um-okey na yan
